A little bit of trainspotting with a dash of Reservoir Dogs!

This week I continued my mission to pile through those top 250 movies by watching Trainspotting and Reservoir Dogs. For some reason, I never quite got round to watching trainspotting even though I was meant to. All I can say is that I should have watched it earlier!

Danny Boyle was spot on in his Actor selection, every single person cast were tailor suited for these roles. Having said this, two of these Actors stood out immensely, that being Ewen McGregor and Robert Carlyle. I have always felt that Ewen McGregor was talented and a force to be reckoned with, this movie was and still is some of his best acting. It can be hard for actors to evoke sympathy and compassion when portraying heroin addicts but somehow you feel for Renton, you laugh when he is happy and you feel his pain and turmoil when he hits rock bottom.

Throughout the movie I found myself gunning for him to succeed, hoping that somehow he would turn his life around and be the hero he could be.  Robert Carlyle on the other hand plays Begbie, a complete sociopath, who's only enjoyment is fighting and terrorising others. I am ashamed to say that before this movie the role I remember him most for was the Full Monty. Although you despise Begbie you find yourself unable to look away when he is on film, curious as to his next move or line and hoping for this to be even crazier than the last.

All in all, this movie is so worthy of being in this IMDB list and I regret the time it took me to sit down and watch it!

The other movie I decided to watch was Reservoir Dogs, a part of me is still wondering why I was so eager to watch this specific movie. I will admit to being a fan of Quentin Tarantino, he has a way of putting his stamp on a movie especially when selecting the music for his pictures. Was this movie my favourite from his? Definitely not!

After watching Pulp Fiction, this movie was a disappointment. The opening credits and the argument in the diner over tipping was extremely clever and entertaining but after this was over the movie suddenly went downhill for me. The only problem is I am not sure why, after all the actors chosen were some of the greats and the concept of this movie was genius but there was still something lacking. Perhaps it was the sequence of events or the fact that most of this was filmed in one room, somehow I finished this movie wanting something more, something better!

Maybe watching Pulp Fiction before this movie tainted my opinion since Quentin had raised the bar so high for any movies to follow! I wouldn't say I regretted watching this movie but I do not think it deserves to be in that top 250.

Now that that's done, I am off to tick yet another movie from this list. Happy Watching All!!
